Quick Hamburger Green Bean Skillet with browned beef, garlic, and green beans

Hamburger Green Bean Skillet

A fast one-pan dinner of browned ground beef, garlic, green beans, optional water chestnuts, and savory soy seasoning.

Ingredients

  • Neutral oil as needed for frying
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 8 ounces frozen cut green beans
  • 1/2 cup sliced water chestnuts optional and drained
  • Soy sauce tamari, or coconut aminos, to taste

Instructions

Prepare the skillet:

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add only enough neutral oil to prevent sticking.

Brown the beef and garlic:

  1. Add the ground beef and minced garlic. Break the beef into small crumbles and cook until browned and the meat reaches an internal temperature of 160°F. Carefully remove excessive rendered fat if needed.

Add the green beans:

  1. Stir in the frozen green beans and the drained water chestnuts, if using. Continue cooking and stirring until the green beans are hot and tender.

Season and finish:

  1. Add soy sauce, tamari, or coconut aminos gradually to taste. Stir until the seasoning lightly coats the beef and vegetables, then serve immediately.
CHEF’S TIP
Water chestnuts are optional and can be omitted without changing the basic method.
Add the soy seasoning gradually because saltiness varies by product.
